Environmental Health Service - Food Control

The principal aims of the Environmental Health Services are:

  1. The control of those environmental health factors in the physical environment which adversely affect health and
  2. The promotion of good environmental health standards.

The Environmental Health Services (EHS) are engaged in a wide range of environmental health services for both the Health Service Executive and the Local Authorities (on an agency or secondment basis). The main services are Food Control and Environmental Control.

It is for Food Control measures that the Environmental Health Officers carry out sampling programmes and submit samples to the laboratory for analysis.
